How I selected the techniques that support my personal and professional needs

Lack of time is one of my favorite excuses. That's why I need some techniques that make me more effective. Choosing them is tricky.
Information by itself is not knowledge. Nowadays, it is too easy to obtain information, almost effortless. Paradoxically this makes the task of selecting and using the proper techniques more complicated. We became used to having the latest tools and methods, collecting them without really needing them. I know this well: I've played this game for years.
Several authors have written about over-information two examples are:
Umberto Eco, Como se fa una tesi di laurea (1977)
Richard Saul Wurman, Information Anxiety (1990)

My goal is to have a small set of powerful techniques (and their corresponding software tools) that allows me to unleash my full potential. Challenging but possible.

To be continued...
